I suppose if I were to buy the new sheets the kids desperately need (I am ashamed – if y’all could see how threadbare they are right now…you might call CPS on me) (their comforters also have holes, and they’ve been pulling the stuffing out of them), wrap them up and put them under the tree…that would be kind of a sucky Christmas present?
Are you sure? Even if they had princesses on them?
Damn.
I suppose that also means that wrapping up the new bathroom towels would be…?
All right, all right. It was just a thought.
Geesh.

I completely understand why I got new undies for Christmas for so many years when we were kids (and poor).
Actually I think it is a great Christmas present. They need the sheets, they will like them and it will give them a big package to unwrap. Do it!
So that explains the oranges in the Christmas stocking....and wrapped socks.
I have no problem with these possibilities. In fact I may employ them myself. Hope you don't mind...
If there are princesses it definitely qualifies as a present. And in the name of fairness, if one kid is getting new bedding, they must all get new bedding. It will take up lots of real estate under the tree so you really need to have 1 for each of them, you know for when the count the presents.
How about big soft comforters wrapped around something that corresponds, like a bob the builder playset or soemthing? That way it's a really big present!
I think that totally counts as a present. I remember getting a new bedding set one year (sheets, pillocases, comforter, sham, and a decorative wall hanging thingy) and I loved it. And I was little - like 8.
My mom used to give us clothing and sneakers for Christmas. In fact, the start of school and Christmas were the only times of the year we got new clothes. It was a rare treat to get a toy, and then it was usually something really crummy. (And just to be clear, my parents had money. My mom is just not good at gifts.) I would have loved a princess comforter!
