The thing is, I can knit and still be paying attention. I can follow the train of conversation. I can keep up. I can recite back what you just said to me. As long as I’m not doing, you know, complicated lace or cables or something, I can even read a magazine and knit.
You can’t do that with Sudoku.
So if you are, say, serving on a jury, and you’re bored because, you know, giving another human being due process is just ever-so-ho-hum an activity…
Skip Sudoku. The vertical-writing thing will give you away every time.
Compose blog entries instead.

I can talk and knit or do needlepoint or whatever. I actually think my listening and concentration are better when my hands and eyes are absorbed.
Unbelievable story. Not just one juror - 4 or 5 of them!
I have to be doing something, hate just sitting and doing nothing.
I remember nursing my eldest, watching trashy TV, knitting AND talking on the phone all at the same time.............
I once told an administrator that if he wanted me to pay attention during meetings, he had better let me knit. Otherwise I'd be tuning him out or sleeping.
LOL that's all I'm sayin'... just LOL
