My poor little Captain is having EIGHT fillings this morning. Eight. EIGHT!! All way in the back, where nobody has ever been able to really look / x-ray because when he isn’t sedated he will clamp his mouth shut and GOD HELP the foolish person who has a finger in there to try to stop him doing it.
Thank GOD for the better dental insurance. It’s still going to cost a fair bit, but far less than it would have otherwise AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, is being done by a man who “gets” not only children in general, but autism in particular. No trauma, no fighting, no terror, no pain.
For the child, anyway. Mom…might need a nice sedative, here…

Poor Captain Adventure!!! My eight year old recently had the resin put directly on four cavities. No drilling. These are baby teeth that probably won't fall out until he is twelve. My dentist said it would be a temporary fix, but Goddess bless him, he was so patient showing everything step by step and asking for permission before he did anything. He let my son play with the blue light that hardens the resin and he even made an initial out of the resin and gave it to my son. Otherwise my autistic child would have had to be put asleep. I am grateful for my amazing, wonderful adult dentist who agreed to see my son. I didn't like the pediatric dentists we went to. I hope Captain Adventure has an absolutely amazing dentist, too, and that all goes well.
Of COURSE Mom needs a sedative - are you kidding?
